Understanding PlumCare DNA Testing For Cancer Risk

Most cancers start because of acquired  gene mutation. While Genetic Tets are available in some types of cancer, however, laboratories offering the service is limited.

Cordlife, the first and only DOH-registered, ISO-certified and AABB-accredited cord blood banking facility in the Philippines  introduces PlumCare DNA Testing.

PlumCare was developed by Dr. Petros Tsipouras, a specialist in clinical genetics and an adjunct professor at the Yale University School of Medicine.

During the launch held at EDSA Shangri La Hotel, Dr. Petros discussed the benefits of understanding family DNA .

With DNA Testing, thee's a big chance to delay or prevent the onset of disease such as breast and lung cancers, as well as other lifestyle diseases such as Diabetes and Hypertension.

DNA Testing used Whole Exome Sequencing  (WES), which maps the exact composition or sequence of approximately 20,000 genes where bearly 85% of disease-causinf DNA variatuins are found.

PlumCare is a family trio test done by collecting DNA from adults and children above the age of 6years old using a saliva tube which is included in the collecting kit. For kids six years old and younger, a swab sponge is done.
