“Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino” Book Launch
Mommies, what do you usually give as a birthday or Christmas present  to your children and inaanak? I still remember about few years ago the gift I gave to my 1 year old inaanak. It was a set of fairytale books with colorful prints. I seldom give toys as a gift. I like something that's more useful that kids will learn while playing.

Last Saturday, I was privileged to be invited for Noel Cabangon's book launch "Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino" (I am a Good Filipino) held at National Bookstore, Glorietta.

This time, the beautiful words in Noel's song was perfectly captured through images by Jomike Tejido, an award-winning illustrator-writer. The singer-songwriter-advocate Noel Cabangon describes in his book how one becomes a good Filipino. The book is based on Noel's hit song of the same title and features the artworks of Jomike.

Jomike’s  work includes a Golden Book Awards in 2002 "Si Dindo Pundido", Ang Pambihirang Sumbrero and the Foldabots Toy Books and Tagu-taguan a 2010 Best Reads. The artist also held exhibits in Manila and Singapore, where he established himself as one of the premiere artists specializing in acrylic painting on hand-woven mats.

The song, "Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino" before it became a book played a significant role duing the last elections as the song challenged Filipinos to fulfill their duties as a good citizen of the country. The song mentions varous good deeds and values to become a truly good Filipino.

The book has colorful big illustrations that kids will surely enjoy and easily understand. Word are very simple and has translation in English. I believe this book can be used as a teaching material talking about values.

On page 31, you can find the lyrics and chords of the song "Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino", a good way to end reading the book for those who loves to sing or play an instrument.

"Ako'y Isang Pilipino" is published by Lampara Publishing House Inc., a well-know publishing company of illustrated award-winning stories for children.

It is now available at National Bookstore nationwide for only P69.75
