Villar Foundation & GoNegosyo 2nd OFW & Family Summit a Success!
Entrepreneurship is always an interesting topic, to listen to talks and seminars about starting a business. Have you ever thought of starting your own business?
Last Wednesday, fiancé and I attended an OFW and Family Summit presented by the Villar Foundation and GoNegosyo. Participants were OFW themselves and their families. In our family, there were about three OFWs working in different countries. I almost become one of them, but I chose to stay in our country - happy and contented!
We were lucky to catch the ribbon cutting headed by Senator Manny Villar and wife Mrs. Cynthia Villar with GoNegosyo Mr. Joey Concepcion.
Speakers from the business industry including GoNegosyo, Joey Concepcion, Angelpreneur/mentor, Mr. Henry Tenedero.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the seminar started with guests who are OFWs turned entrepreneurs sharing their personal experiences on how they shifted careers and became successful entrepreneurs.
I was planning to leave World Trade Center before lunch time for some personal errands but the seminar was quite interesting specially that we’re also planning to start our small business first quarter of 2013, after the wedding. I just found myself confined to my chair and listening to the talk. Just before the lunch break, the Managing Director of the Villar Foundation, Mrs. Cynthia Villar welcomed OFWs and their families to the 2nd OFW Summit. She stressed out the importance of starting a business, providing a real-life example based on their family's personal experiences. The Villar started with gravel and sand business before Senator Manny decided to build a house, their very first customer was an OFW then. No wonder OFWs are one of the key advocacies of the Villar foundation.
Inside the World Trade Center were exhibitors stalls such as Smart, AVON, Marikina Shoe Exchange, Isuzu, Finds, Puregold.
Last year, Foresa Morada, a wife of an OFW from Quezon City won a house and lot at Tierra Nevada subdivision of Camella Homes in General Trias, Cavite. Today, we’re all excited to hear who will be the lucky OFW or their family to receive a brand new house and lot from Camella homes. There were other prizes such as motorcycle that can be used for a tricycle; food carts from Kettle Korn and RFM among others.

Finally, the much-awaited draw for the Camella house and lot came. Russel Nalayog, a seaman from Greece and his family just received their earlier Christmas gift from the OFW and Family Summit when he won the house & lot from Camella Homes that was raffled out during the 2nd OFW & Family Summit of the Villar Foundation & GO NEGOSYO
Congratulations to all the winners! Thanks to Villar Foundation & GoNegosyo for helping OFWs and their families understand the importance of starting their own business and adopt to an entrepreneurial mindset.
