United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) National Conference on Productivity and Family Planning

The U nited Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and its partners,   Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Commission on Population (POPCOM)  hope to encourage companies to adopt family planning programs in the workplace through the 1st National Conference on Family Planning in the Workplace . Family planning makes good business sense shared the UNFPA as it urged companies to start implementing family planning programs.    The conference, the first-ever to tackle the private sector’s role in supporting the implementation of the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Law, brought together the ECOP, the DOLE and POPCOM. The event also gathered 200 participants from a wide variety of industries who shared their experiences and learned best practices from UNFPA’s Business Action for Family Planning Access (BAFP) project. Persons with Autism Learn Life Skills at the Supermarket

It was already three o’clock in the afternoon, and 18-year old Brad was supposed to be home by 12 noon. His worried mom began to think if teaching him to commute was the right decision. Brad Gutierrez is a person with autism (PWA), and that was his first time to travel by public transportation. As it turned out, it was one of those days when UV Express shuttles get delayed by traffic congestion. Brad waited patiently for three hours, fighting hunger and sweat along with other passengers in line. But unlike most people, he got home with pride that he was able to come home by himself.

Pupils and faculty members of Rosario Elementary School (RES) welcomed school year 2018-2019 with a big smile as they held classes in rooms repainted by Universal Robina Corporation (URC). URC, a snack manufacturing company with a deep commitment to help develop local communities, restructured and repainted four classrooms of the Pasig-based elementary school that is home to 3,469 pupils and 130 faculty and staff.

Equipping Today's Learners with 21st Century Skill Sets

The 21st century is an era that is characterized by progressiveness and diversity brought about by the digital age. Essential skill sets that every learner should possess has been redefined to prosper in this latest wave of modernization. Education's universal language now extends to broader scopes - from academic performance inside the four corners of the classroom to the creation of learning environments aligned with the real world that would allow learners to master talents and capabilities for long-term success. This change is evident even with the Philippines’ Educational system as we adopt the K to 12 program. "K" stands for Kindergarten and "12" refers to the succeeding 12 years of basic education (6 years of elementary education, four years of junior high school, and two years of senior high school). The new curriculum gives students the chance to choose between three tracks (i.e., Academic; Technical-Vocational-Livelihood; and Sports and Arts) whe
