With the increased use of the Internet, the relevance of learning online also rose in the previous years. Students and researchers alike has always been encouraged to supplement their sources with online references as well.

From the other end of the spectrum, the teachers can also use online references to complement their teaching materials or even improve their teaching methodologies.

These ideas gave Saint Mary’s Publishing Corporation (SMPC) President Jerry Vicente Catabijan the drive to initiate a CSR website for his company - www.better.com.ph. Its objective was providing materials and information for educators and teachers alike who want to improve their learning online and be better at what they do.
So I thought...how can I help here? So that’s what led me to create an online resource site that will cater to teacher solely. Here, teachers can read up on a lot of practical articles that can help them become better educators, plain and simple,” says SMPC President Jerry Catabijan.
Belonging to a family of textbook publishers, they have been in the business for over 47 years already. So it's not surprising anymore when he started www.better.com.ph last year.

Be Better

The word “better” in Be Better is an acronym which stands for “Better Education Thrives Through Endless Reading.” Be Better shares free articles on a number of topics such as teaching tips, book features, and profiles on writers and educators. The editorial staff itself has teachers in its team.

One of the features entitled “Develop the right learning mindset in your students,” discusses how teachers have to ensure their students possess the right learning mindset to better absorb the lesson.

Another objective of Be Better is to become a beneficial resource material for teachers to improve their craft.

The regular sections on “Feed your need to read,”“Shaping the self-learner,” and “Be Better Spotlight,” intends to do just that, and more. There are also plans to grow the site to reach a wider audience.
