Master Chef 2013 Barangay Cooking Idols

Being a mom, I need to learn a variety of cuisine so I keep searching for delicious food that I can serve to my family. I'm loyal to local cooking but still open to new and different flavors.

I was in the launched of the Master Chef 2013 at SM HyperMarket Cubao last September 5, 2013. It was hosted by Papa Dan of 97.1 Barangay LS and Monica Vallero of Unamg Hirit. The MasterChef 2013 is a cooking competition to be held in all 37 SM HyperMarkets nationwide. The competition is open to anyone who cook well. Aspirant Master Chefs must incorporate a routine that wows the crowd. Aside from cooking, he or she must have a talent too. He or she could sing, dance, act or anything that will amaze the crowd. At the end of it all, Master Chefs 2013 will introduce a new breed of Super Chefs that are not only good cooks but also talented individuals.

Reputable chefs like Corporate Sous Chef Paolo Sia of Unilever  Food Solutions, Chef Kris Alcedo of San Miguel (Purefoods) and Master Chef 2013 Ambassador Chef Hasset Go were  there and showed more exciting ways of mixing up products.  The event was completed with cooking demos and great tasting food for the audience.

Today, the MasterChef  pays tribute to the culinary prowess of the barangay. Master Chefs highlights the everyday excellence displayed by carinderias, canteens, food stall and home kitchens in making exquisite dishes. These places produce exactly what Pinoy’s crave for simply because these cooks desire to eat the same masterpieces they create. And because they have truly captured Filipino taste, the Barangay Chefs are this year’s focus.

For me, not all good food is found in the restaurants and hotels, but also in residences, carinderias and eateries where we eat regularly. Filipinos definitely know what they want to eat.
